Yoga as Philosophy and Lifestyle: Integrating Ancient Wisdom with Contemporary Well-BeinAbstractYoga is one of the most profound contributions of the Indian knowledge tradition to humanity. Although it is often identified with physical postures and exercises, its original purpose extends far beyond bodily fitness. Classical yoga presents a comprehensive philosophical system that seeks harmony between body, mind, intellect, and consciousness while guiding the individual toward self-realization and liberation (mokṣa). Rooted in the wisdom of the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gītā, and Patañjali's Yoga Sūtras, yoga offers a disciplined path based on ethical conduct, self-control, meditation, and spiritual awareness. In the contemporary world, marked by stress, materialism, environmental degradation, and mental health challenges, yoga has emerged as an effective means of promoting holistic well-being. This paper examines yoga as both a philosophical framework and a practical lifestyle. It explores the metaphysical foundations of yoga, the significance of the eightfold path (Aṣṭāṅga Yoga), and the relevance of yogicprinciples in education, healthcare, psychology, environmental sustainability, and social harmony. The paper also critically discusses the commercialization of yoga and argues for preserving its spiritual and ethical foundations. Employing a qualitative and textual research methodology based on classical scriptures and contemporary scholarly literature, the study concludes that yoga remains a timeless system capable of fostering individual transformation, ethical citizenship, and global peace. Its philosophy continues to provide practical solutions for many of the moral, psychological, and social challenges of the twenty-first century.

Leading from the South: India’s Quest for Institutional Legitimacy in the Emerging World OrderAbstractThe end of the world with a center of its gravity that was still a clear post-Second World War order around the United States‚ around Western institutions‚ means that the elements of this new world are unknown․ New voices and new ideas are responsible for the building of a new world order․ India's role is especially critical․ It is an important and growing player in global climate change governance‚ transitioning from a passive norm-taker‚ adapting to rules made by others‚ to a norm shaper‚ a country looking to propose an alternate and to speak for the Global south․ The chapter covers India's evolution from a non-aligned power struggling to avoid subjugation to the Cold War superpowers (given India's limited global reach) to its current position covering Global South Summits and leading the promotion of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and India's turn at the G20 presidency to promote the philosophy of inclusion summed up in the slogan Vasudaiva Kutumbakam ("One Earth‚ One Family‚ One Future")․ India's climate diplomacy and development partnership are beginning to change the norms of legitimacy and cooperation through innovation‚ albeit with some limitations․ However‚ there remain numerous concerns around India's ability to lead‚ whether it is willing and capable of rising to the occasion‚ whether it can reconcile its aspirations of leading the world with its domestic constraints and whether it will truly represent the South․ However, India's evolving role highlights an important fact: the Global South is no longer just a place where norms are acted upon, but is now a place where norms are actively created. By analyzing India's history, this chapter seeks to show how the Global South is reimagining its future from the South, with India acting as one of its primary architects.

Social Realism in Yusuf Idris’s Arkhas Layâlî (The Cheapest Nights): An Analytical StudyAbstractSocial realism is an important literary approach that presents the real conditions of society, especially the struggles of poor and marginalized people. Yusuf Idris is one of the most important modern Arabic writers who realistically depicted the lives of poor and marginalized people in his short stories. His first short story collection Arkhas Layâlî (The Cheapest Nights) was published in the year 1954. The book was warmly welcomed by both readers and critics alike, and it made Yusuf Idris famous at the young age of twenty-seven. The short story collection Arkhas Layâlî shows the harsh realities of poverty, social inequality, unemployment, and human suffering in Egyptian society. The story mainly focuses on the miserable condition of a poor family trapped in economic hardship and continuous social struggle. Through simple language and realistic description, Yusuf Idris presents the difficulties faced by poor people and criticizes the government for ignoring the suffering of the poor. This study attempts to analyse the elements of social realism in Arkhas Layâlî and examine how Yusuf Idris portrays the painful realities of ordinary life.

Relevance of Bon Tradition in Sherdukpen SocietyAbstractBefore the advent of Buddhism as a foreign religion in Tibet, Bonism or the Bon tradition was practised. An archaic or most respectably the tradition of Bon involves animistic and shamanistic practices. As mystical and alluring, it embraces the idea that all beings in the universe has soul and worships the spirits and deities of nature such as deities of the mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. Their unquestionable belief and faith made them dependant on the various deities for matters related to all aspect of life like marriage, war, harvest, health, death and welfare of the community, to name a few. Further, in an attempt to appease and mollify the deities various rituals were performed such as animal sacrifice, sorcery, fetishism, etc. This paper strives to take one through the journey of the Bon tradition that survived the persecution with the advent of Buddhism in Tibet around 7th century BC and how it manoeuvered its way to still exist and be relevant as a way of life for most people in Tibet, as well as in the West Kameng regions of Arunachal Pradesh, where amalgamation of both Bon and Lamaist tradition is seen. This paper proposes to highlight Bon and its relevance in the Sherdukpen tribe, located in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, while looking into the intricacies of Bon beliefs, rituals and its shamanistic practises.

Solid Waste Management Practices and it’s Rising Problem in Gangtok Municipal AreasAbstractUrban areas across the nation have been facing a serious problem of solid waste and with the growing problem, urban bodies have been trying its best to address the issue. My paper attempts to understand the role of Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC). The best of practices GMC has been playing for the collection, transportation and disposal of solid waste, how its working with the collaboration to different Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s), local people participation in handling waste and its consequent effect on the environment. The study was carried out by using quantitative research design, employing group discussion and in-depth observations methods with all the stake holders such as GMC officials, workers, NGO’s and households. The study finds that the primary focus of the corporation remains on collecting and transporting largely unsegregated mixed waste from the main roads, markets, and other visible places. Although the corporation is working along with different NGO’s, it is struggling to implement the SWM rules and failed to collect the user fees efficiently, my findings suggest that even though majority of the people are aware of the ills of burning and dumping garbage, yet people’s participation in SWM related activities is limited.

Myth as a Cultural Force: Reconstruction of Identity among the Matua Community from an Emic PerspectiveAbstractThe Namasudra-Matua community is the second-largest Scheduled Caste group in West Bengal, garnering significant academic and political focus due to its identity politics and ability to sway electoral outcomes. In the course of constructing and maintaining identity, the community has used various myths strategically. This study explores how myths influence identity formation in this community, using a functionalist and emic approach. Rather than treating myth as fiction or as unverified historical accounts requiring empirical verification, this paper argues that myth functions as a dynamic cultural force that deconstructs, reconstructs, and legitimises collective identity. Using qualitative micro-ethnography, including interviews, observation, and informal talks, this article examines community myths about their origins, the shift into untouchability, and liberation from stigma. These myths serve as symbols helping communities negotiate identity, dignity, social recognition, and collective mobilisation. The paper suggests myths do not arise from their historical accuracy, subconscious desires, or interest in origins, but from their social necessity. Their value lies more in circulation than origin. Myths help marginalised groups by giving moral legitimacy, reinforcing solidarity, organising social memory, and resisting dominant ideologies. Within communities, these myths are experienced as lived truths, shaping daily consciousness and aspirations. The study highlights the paradox of community resistance, concluding that myths are active cultural tools for interpreting the past, understanding the present, and legitimising claims, serving not just as stories of history but as vital parts of daily life.

Healing through Horror: Psychological Trauma in Patrick Ness’ A Monster CallsAbstractThis paper examines the representation of psychological trauma in Patrick Ness’s A Monster Calls and argues that the novel’s horror elements, which include, a recurring nightmare, a monstrous yew-tree visitor, and a pervasive atmosphere of dread, function not as generic ornamentation but as a structured mechanism through which the child protagonist, Conor O’Malley, confronts and works through repressed grief. Drawing on attachment theory, grief theory, interpersonal psychiatry, and psychoanalytic dream theory, the study reads Conor’s encounters with the monster as externalisations of an internal psychic process, in which fear operates paradoxically as a therapeutic rather than purely destructive force. The paper situates this reading within the broader tradition of English horror and Gothic literature, in which monstrosity has long served as a vehicle for confronting socially or psychologically unspeakable material, and considers how Ness adapts this tradition for a child readership working through terminal parental illness. Employing a qualitative method of close textual analysis supported by psychoanalytic and attachment-based criticism, the paper traces the stages of Conor’s trauma, attachment disruption, family dysfunction, and repression, as they are mediated through the monster’s stories, and argues that the novel’s ending reframes fear as a precondition for honesty and recovery. The analysis suggests that the novel constructs horror as a restorative genre, in which the child’s fear of the monster gradually gives way to a fear of his own suppressed truth, constituting the novel’s central contribution to English horror literature’s engagement with monstrosity as a means of psychological disclosure.

Language Identity and Cultural Resilience among Santal CommunityAbstractAbstract Santali is a member of one of the largest Austroasiatic speaking Adivasi communities in South Asia which is an interesting case study for the study of sociolinguistic persistence. Minoritized indigenous communities in modern India are subjected to high pressure of economic displacements of neo-liberalism, migration and the structural domination of regional Indo-Aryan and Dravidian languages. This is a research paper that explores the relationship between language identity and cultural resilience in Santali communities. The interpretation of the role of language in the preservation of the culture heritage and socio-political resistance is analysed through an interdisciplinary approach, merging the theories of subaltern studies, sociolinguistics and indigenous sociology. The analysis is based on the development, propagation and digitalization of the Olchiki invented by Pandit Raghunath Murmu. It also focuses on the implementation of Mother-Tongue Based Multilingual Education in the light of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in India. It reveals that there is an oral and written continuity—creation epics (Binti), festival songs (Sereng) and riddles (Kudum) that sustains Santali cultural resilience with a distinct eco-spiritual link to ancestral lands (Zameen). Structural problems including geographic fragmentation, pedagogical materials, and differences due to the script are also discussed. Finally, the paper suggests that it is important to institutionalize Santali education and critical to support digital indigenous spaces as part of decolonization. By protecting the language, we are also speaking for the protection of alternative, sustainable worldviews which are becoming more valuable to current global ecological discussions.

Growth, Emergence and Assessing Quality of Open Online Courses in Higher Education with Special Reference to “SWAYAM”Abstract: The proliferation (a rapid and sudden increase, spread, or multiplication) of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) has fundamentally disrupted the conventional architecture of higher education across the globe. India's SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) platform, launched in 2017 under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, represents one of the most ambitious state-led digital learning initiatives in the developing world. This paper undertakes a comprehensive analytical and evaluative inquiry into three interrelated dimensions: (i) the quantitative growth trajectory of SWAYAM since its inception, (ii) its emergence as a legitimate pedagogical instrument within the formal higher education ecosystem, and (iii) a systematic quality assessment of courses hosted on the platform using established theoretical frameworks—specifically the Quality Matters (QM) framework and the European Quality Reference Framework for MOOCs (EQRiM). Drawing upon secondary data, policy documents, and a critical synthesis of extant literature, the study reveals that while SWAYAM has achieved remarkable scale in enrolment and course diversity, significant gaps persist in learner retention, instructional interactivity, and robust quality assurance mechanisms. The paper concludes with policy implications aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, advocating for a structured quality assurance architecture that balances scale with pedagogical depth. The findings are intended to inform educators, policymakers, and curriculum designers engaged in the digital transformation of higher education in India and analogous developing nation contexts.

Aggressive Behaviour and Parenting Style Among AdolescentsAbstractAdolescent aggression poses significant challenges to healthy development, with parental dynamics playing a critical role in shaping these behaviors. This study investigated the relationship between parenting styles (maternal and paternal) and aggressive behavior among adolescents in the Uttar Pradesh National Capital Region (UP NCR). A sample of 300 adolescents aged 14 to 18, including both male and female genders, was recruited. Data were collected using the Buss & Perry Aggression Questionnaire and Gafoor and Kurukkan’s Parenting Style Questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings demonstrated that moms and dads impact teenage behavior in different ways. Descriptive statistics revealed variation in parenting factors among parents. While female parenting styles showed a statistically significant connection (p = 0.025) with adolescent growth, inferential analysis revealed that the father's parenting style was the key vector associated with the appearance of adolescent aggressive conduct. Both parents have various influences on kids; nevertheless, paternal styling is more significantly associated with adolescent hostility. Finally, a warm and caring home atmosphere from both parents is essential for preventing bad adjustment and developing competence in teens.

Transforming Corporate Social Responsibility in India: A Decade of Investment Trends and Sectoral Reallocation, 2014–2025AbstractIndia's Companies Act, 2013 (Section 135) established the world's first statutory mandate requiring qualifying firms to spend at least two per cent of average net profit on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), converting a voluntary corporate practice into a quasi-fiscal instrument of development finance. This paper synthesises the first decade of implementation (FY 2014–15 to FY 2023–24), with reference to FY 2024–25 disclosures, drawing on Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) filings, the Economic Survey of India, and peer-reviewed evaluations of the mandate. Aggregate CSR expenditure rose from ₹10,065.93 crore (FY 2014–15) to ₹34,908.75 crore (FY 2023–24) and ₹40,794 crore (FY 2024–25), a more than fourfold increase, while participating companies grew from 16,548 to over 29,500. Education and healthcare have consistently absorbed more than half of total spending, while niche themes such as animal welfare, senior citizens' welfare and natural-resource conservation recorded triple-digit percentage growth between FY 2019–20 and FY 2023–24, albeit from a small base. Spending remains concentrated among a small set of large firms and a handful of industrialised states. The paper situates these empirical patterns within the academic debate on the efficacy of mandated versus voluntary CSR and derives policy-relevant implications for regulatory design, sectoral rebalancing and impact measurement.

Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Library ServicesAbstractAI technology has greatly revolutionized today's information systems and library services. AI-powered tools such as intelligent search systems, automated cataloging, chatbots, and recommendation systems are some of the ways libraries are increasingly using AI to become more efficient and user-friendly. This research is based on the possibility of using Artificial Intelligence in the improvement of library services in some selected libraries of the city of Delhi. It was a descriptive research design where primary data is collected through offline questionnaire survey to 180 respondents comprising librarians and library staffs and external users. Descriptive statistics, correlation, regression and ANOVA were used to examine the data. The results show that the level of awareness about the AI technology among the respondents is relatively high, with 41.11% having moderate awareness and 28.89% having high awareness. AI-powered search systems (33.33%) were identified as the major AI technology in libraries, followed by the automated cataloging (24.44%) and the chatbot systems (17.78%). The results of the mean score analysis revealed positive attitudes towards the AI technologies, with scores ranging from 4.02 to 4.18, reflecting high levels of consensus regarding the value of AI for improving library services. Evidence from correlation studies shows that the use of AI is strongly correlated with service efficiency (r = 0.68). Through regression analysis, it is found that the use of AI also improves information retrieval (R² = 0.435; p < 0.05) and users' satisfaction (β = 0.61; p < 0.05) besides assisting with the automation of library operations (β = 0.63; p < 0.05). Based on the results of the ANOVA test, there is a statistically significant difference in the perception of the use of AI services between the librarians, personnel, and readers (p = 0.006).

Internet Usage and Academic Performance among High School StudentsAbstractThe rapid advancement of information and communication technology has transformed educational practices worldwide. High school students increasingly rely on the internet for educational activities such as completing assignments, accessing digital learning resources, attending online classes and communicating with teachers and peers. However, internet use also presents challenges, particularly when students engage excessively in non-academic activities such as social networking, online gaming and entertainment. The present study investigates the relationship between internet use and academic performance among high school students in Garobadha, Rerapara Block, South West Garo Hills District, Meghalaya. A descriptive survey method was employed, and data were collected from 60 Class X students using an Internet Usage Scale and academic achievement records. The findings revealed that most students demonstrated above-average internet usage levels. Female students performed slightly better academically than male students. The study further revealed a positive relationship between internet use and academic achievement, indicating that students who use the internet effectively for educational purposes tend to achieve better academic results. The study emphasizes the importance of digital literacy, responsible internet use, and proper guidance from parents and teachers.

The Revolt of 1857 in Chhattisgarh: A Historical Analysis of Veer Narayan Singh’s Resistance in SonakhanAbstractThe Revolt of 1857 represents a defining moment in the history of India's anti-colonial struggle against British rule. While scholarly attention has predominantly focused on the major centres of rebellion such as Meerut, Delhi, Kanpur, and Jhansi, the contribution of regional resistance movements has remained comparatively underexplored. Among these regional struggles, the resistance led by Veer Narayan Singh, the zamindar of Sonakhan in present-day Chhattisgarh, occupies a significant position. His humanitarian intervention during the famine of 1856–1857, particularly the redistribution of food grains to starving peasants, challenged both colonial authority and the exploitative practices of local grain merchants. His subsequent arrest, escape from imprisonment, mobilization of local support, and armed resistance against the British administration transformed him into one of the earliest freedom fighters of central India.

From Urban Greens to Ocean Blues: Biocentric Egalitarianism in Cottle’s Environmental NarrativesAbstractThis paper focuses on two picture books, namely The Blue Giant (2020) and The Green Giant (2019) by the same author, Kattie Cottle. She is an author and illustrator living in the United Kingdom. The author lays emphasis on issues like pollution of both water and air. The aim of the paper is to explore both the stories through the lens of biocentrism to discuss the portrayal of environmental relationships, agency, interconnectedness and the importance of green spaces in urban settings and remind that a moment of self-awareness regarding the extent of humanity's anthropocentric tendencies is essential as the lives of human beings are interconnected with that of nature.
