Abstract

This paper focuses on two picture books, namely The Blue Giant (2020) and The Green Giant (2019) by the same author, Kattie Cottle. She is an author and illustrator living in the United Kingdom. The author lays emphasis on issues like pollution of both water and air. The aim of the paper is to explore both the stories through the lens of biocentrism to discuss the portrayal of environmental relationships, agency, interconnectedness and the importance of green spaces in urban settings and remind that a moment of self-awareness regarding the extent of humanity's anthropocentric tendencies is essential as the lives of human beings are interconnected with that of nature.
