The Impact of Dr. Jose Rizal’s Martyrdom on Students’ Commitment to Social Change and Justice
Abstract
This research examines the impact of Dr. Jose Rizal's ideologies, life, principles, and martyrdom on the commitment of Level II Block A student nurses to social change and justice. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a structured questionnaire to collect data from 42 student nurses at Saint Louis University. The questionnaire assessed their familiarity with Rizal's life and achievements, the relevance of learning about Rizal in today's generation, challenges in fostering social change and justice in their community, lessons derived from Rizal's life and sacrifice, and the perception of Rizal's fight for social reform in relation to their commitment. The findings indicate that most respondents are familiar with Rizal's life and achievements, highlighting the influence of the Rizal Law in cultivating awareness. The respondents acknowledge the importance of learning about Rizal in addressing contemporary social issues. Challenges identified include lack of awareness, resistance to change, limited support, and adherence to social and cultural norms. Key lessons drawn from Rizal's life and sacrifice encompass the significance of education and intellectual pursuit, the impact of social inequality and injustice, the power of peaceful resistance and civil obedience, and the importance of cultural and national identity. The perception of Rizal's fight for social reform varies among respondents, with some strongly influenced and motivated by his struggle while others attribute their commitment to additional factors. This research provides valuable insights into the influence of Rizal's martyrdom on student nurses' dedication to social change and justice, contributing to the development of educational programs and interventions that promote active citizenship and meaningful engagement in societal issues.

A Window to Feminine Agency: Primary Research and Analysis of Feminist and Digital Humanities Perspectives of Satyajit Ray’s Charulata
Abstract
Ray’s Charulata (1964) has erroneous recognition duly for capturing a woman’s mental and emotional existence within colonised Bengal. The location of the film situates it only with the period of the Indian nationalist movement, a time soaked in the scandal of colonialism for almost a century. I found that Charulata offers a mixed story that effectively captures its context to explore femininity, liminality, and confinement. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining feminist theory and digital humanities, this article seeks to provide a pristine understanding of Ray’s aesthetic preferences, his subversion of the “male gaze,” and the unique cinematic rhythm that emulates Charulata’s combat with the self. Using scene-based analysis and computational narratology, it delves into Ray’s techniques in framing and pacing to decode Charulata’s psychological alienation and autonomy. By framing Ray’s cinematic techniques in modern critical disquisition, it enshrines Charulata as a canonical feminist text with continued persistence. This article identifies a research gap in existing scholarship, navigating a discursive reconfiguration that underscores Ray’s feminist undertones and his nuanced critique of imperial patriarchy.

Assessment of Subjective Well-Being Among Factory Workers in China: A Study Using the General Well-Being Schedule (GWB)
Abstract
This study assessed the subjective well-being of 30 factory workers in China using the General Well-Being Schedule (GWB). The GWB measures well-being across six subscales: Health Concerns, Energy Level, Satisfaction and Interest in Life, Mood (Depression or Cheerfulness), Emotional and Behavioral Control, and Relaxation vs. Tension (Anxiety). Results revealed that workers reported high energy levels and life satisfaction, but also experienced significant anxiety and health concerns. Older workers tended to report lower energy levels and higher health concerns. These findings suggest that while factory workers generally experience positive aspects of well-being, stress, anxiety, and physical health issues remain prevalent. The study highlights the need for workplace interventions focusing on stress management, emotional support, and health promotion to improve workers’ overall well-being. Further research is needed to explore the long-term impact of such interventions.

Inclusion of the Life and Works of Jose Rizal to the Improvement of the Students’ Moral Character, Personal Discipline, Civic Conscience, and Duties of Citizenship
Abstract
This research study explores the effects of including the life and works of Jose Rizal in the curriculum of tertiary-level institutions on their moral character, personal discipline, civic conscience, and duties of citizenship as Filipino students. The study aims to provide valuable insights into the transformative power of studying Rizal's life and works and inform educational practices and curriculum design. Using a quantitative research design, the study gathered data through in-depth survey questionnaires from 44 students enrolled in the GRIZAL course at Saint Louis University. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the data and identify common themes. The findings indicate that studying Rizal's life and works had a temporary but positive influence on the students' decision-making. The majority of students expressed a strong sense of civic responsibility and a willingness to participate in civic activities such as voting and volunteering. They also developed a heightened awareness of social injustice and a belief that justice should be impartial. Most students were ready to take action and stand up for what is right, drawing inspiration from Rizal's ideals and teachings. The study emphasizes the importance of including Rizal's teachings in the curriculum to promote positive values, responsible behavior, and active citizenship among students. It provides insights for educators and policymakers to enhance the implementation of the GRIZAL course and foster a deeper understanding of Filipino history, identity, and civic engagement. Overall, this research contributes to the ongoing discourse on the role of education in shaping students' character and nurturing a sense of national pride and social responsibility. By studying Rizal's life and works, students develop a stronger moral compass and a greater commitment to contributing positively to society.

A comparative analysis of Apokpa worship practices between the Meetei and Bishnupriya Manipuri communities.
Abstract
This paper presents a comparative analysis of the worship of Apokpa, a revered ancestral deity, within the Meetei and Bishnupriya Manipuri communities. Apokpa worship is central to both groups, rooted in their shared cultural past, yet it has evolved distinctly due to their unique historical, religious, and social influences. The study explores the rituals, symbolism, and cultural significance of Apokpa in both communities. For the Meetei, Apokpa Khurumba reflects indigenous religious practices intertwined with elements of Sanamahism and Hinduism, while for the Bishnupriya Manipuri, Apokpa worship incorporates Vaishnavism influences, contributing to community identity and cultural preservation. The research sheds light on how these practices not only maintain kinship bonds and reinforce social cohesion but also serve as mechanisms for cultural resilience. By analysing the similarities and differences in the worship of Apokpa, this study contributes to the understanding of religious syncretism and cultural continuity in the Manipuri ethnic groups.

INDIA’S POSITIONS IN GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTINITIES FOR FOOD SECURITY.
Abstract
Hunger and malnutrition continue to pose major challenges for India as is evident with its low rankings in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) from 2015-2024. India's GHI scores reflect "serious" hunger levels as measured by undernourishment, child stunting and wasting despite well above average economic growth rates and substantial improvements in agricultural production. The report investigates India's performance as per GHI and major hurdles like PDS inefficiencies, regional imbalances, climate change impacts on agricultural productivity. By using secondary data from GHI reports, National Family Health Surveys and policy analyses, the research illuminated prospects for progress that includes adopting climate-resilient agricultural practice, improving methods of food distribution and incorporating nutrition-sensitive interventions. Experiences from similar countries having success with food security point toward more than one dimension of what needs to be addressed in the way of solutions on that. These findings are essential to addressing structural inequities and exploring technology maximisers to tackle achievable sustainable solutions for food security in India.
